Federation of Uganda Football Association has confirmed the appointment of Charles Ayeko Mbuzi as the new head coach for the women's national football team on interim basis for a period of one month.

This position has been vacant since Ayoub Khalifah left the role and the public was taken aback when Abdallah Mubiru declined from filing the void hours after being appointed by FUFA.

However in Charles Ayekho,FUFA has appointed a coach with vast experience having led a women's dressing room before, he had stints at both She Corporates and Simba Queens of Tanzania. The CAF A licensed coach has also coached various Uganda Premiere League clubs including Maroons, Busoga United,Tooro United among others.

Ayeko will work together with Oliver Mbekeka (assistant coach),Stephen Billy Kiggundu (goalkeepers coach),Felix Ayobo (Fitness Trainer),Mable Kabatalindwa (Doctor) and Darlian Kyesimire as the physiotherapist.

The new staff faces an immediate task of guiding Uganda past Cameroon in 2024 CAF Women's Olympics qualifiers. It is strong to note that Crested cranes outwitted Rwanda on the previous round.
